All over the news single/video

Hey everyone,

We've recently been working with director Kim Frank on the video for 'All over the news'. We filmed a lot of stuff in front of a white screen, (doesn't sound very exciting but it'll be cool when it's finished), and the rest was filmed in various places around Berlin. Maybe some of you Berliners will recognise your neighbourhood. The song will be released at the end of March, we're still working on the excact date of release but we will let you all know right away. Some radio stations are already playing the song, so maybe your local station will play it too, if you all ask them very nicely : )

We are also working on more tour dates and are looking forward to doing our first very own tour in the coming months.

Hope to see you all soon!!

merry christmas 2010// happy new year 2011

Well, as it's nearly the end of 2010, we would just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us over the last year.

We lost track of how many concerts we played this year, but we’re sure it was quite a few. Mostly we played in Germany but also in France, Spain, Holland, Belgium, Austria and Switzerland. For all those people who saw us as the support act for one of their favorite bands, we thank you for listening to us and giving us a warm welcome when we wandered on stage.

It has been a really exciting year for us, probably the most eventful one we've ever had. The reaction we have received from playing live has genuinely blown us away at times. We never imagined we would play venues like the O2 world arena, twice in one week!! We still can’t believe that actually happened, but apparently it did. There’s Youtube footage to prove it.

We wish you all a Merry Christmas, and a very happy New Year. We look forward to seeing you in 2011 with our first full album.

Thanks again!

Getting ready to hit the road again

Hello folks,

We have lots of shows coming up. We are very excited to be supporting a great bunch of bands in the coming weeks. We will open for Absynthe Minded in Holland, John Butler Trio in Cologne, One Republic on their German dates, and Milow in France. We will also be playing a couple of our own little gigs in between dates. We look forward to seeing you all along the way. We must surely be passing your house at some point !! : ) Maybe we'll go busking in your town centre?....who knows what will happen. Keep an eye out for us anyway, and come say Hello. Maybe put some money in our hat.

All our up-coming dates can be found here

Tour

Untill then, take care.

Love

M & J

First "BAD DREAM" EP Review

Martin and James: Bad Dream (ep)
by The Music Critic ~ Thursday, 15 October 2009 Labels: Folk, Pop
The duo of Martin Kelly and James O'Neill have been catching the attention of labels across Europe for some time, culminating in them signing to Vertigo/Universal music in Germany. Hailing from just outside Glasgow and now relocated to Berlin, it is a sad indictment of the British music industry that these guys were not picked up by a UK label.

They have been compared to Crowded House and Simon & Garfunkle, and it is easy to see why, but there is a lot more to them than the comparisons suggest. The 5 tracks on this ep are dreamy pop/folk all wrapped us with rich vocal harmonies and sealed with a summer twist. Opener She's Like Guiding is a stripped bare, vocal and guitar slice of bittersweet pop that plays with harmonies, both from the guitars and voices, to stunning effect.

The title track is simply wonderful. This is the type of song that the likes of Newton Faulkner and Damian Rice could only dream of writing. You're A Window raises the tempo with its skiffle beat and repetitive guitar riff and is perhaps the weakest of the songs on offer. Things get back on track with Little Bits Of Light, which has a rockier feel to it, coming across a bit like a cross between Turin Brakes and Elbow. Things are brought to a close with the hypnotic, and best track, Devils In The Doorway. The vocal interaction between the guys here is fantastic and shows a true understanding and awareness of their craft.
